Hello HES Parents and Friends,

As a soccer coach, one of the things I remind my players is "play until you hear the whistle." With the flurry of activities scheduled over the final four weeks of school, I find that to currently be good advice for ME.

The game-ending whistle is just around the corner, and as we all push through, it will be here sooner than you think!

This newsletter begins with a checklist of everything we have going on, and continues with details of each item following the checklist.

It has been my honor to serve the students, families and staff of Heritage Elementary as the PTA President this year. I can't even begin to adequately thank the volunteers, Executive Board Members and Officers that made 2023-24 such an overwhelming success. I'm proud to be part of #teamHES.

Purchase tickets for In-N-Out @ Spring Fling

IN-N-OUT Burger joins HES PTA for a fundraiser during Spring Fling on May 3, 2024. Purchase a meal ticket for $5 and receive your choice of a hamburger, cheeseburger, or grilled cheese, that will come with chips and a drink. Great deal for a yummy meal, and a portion of the proceeds goes to HES PTA! Meals will only be available to those who purchase pre-sale tickets. Tickets may be purchased until 12pm on Tuesday, April 30th or until sold out.

General Meeting & Election: May 2nd

The HES PTA will host a General Membership Meeting on Thursday, May 2nd at 6:15pm in the HES Cafeteria. Doors open at 6pm.

The annual election of officers will take place at this meeting along with voting on a bylaw change, recognizing our HES PTA Volunteer Award recipients and announcing our HES PTA Senior Scholarship winners.

Everyone is welcome to attend, and PTA members are welcome to vote.

Questions regarding this meeting may be directed to HES PTA President Michael Wetson.

Spring Fling: May 3rd

HES PTA invites the whole family to our annual Spring Fling event May 3rd on the HES playground from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.

Entry to Spring Fling is free for the entire family. This newly reimagined experience is an outdoor water event with slides, an obstacle course and a FOAM PARTY.

The Donut NV truck will be there selling refreshments, and In-N-Out Burger meals are available, but only by pre-purchasing tickets no later than April 30. (See link above)

This is not a drop off event. All students must be supervised by an adult.

WE NEED YOUR HELP! Please click the link below and sign up for one or more 30 minute shifts. Events like this are always a magical fun time for our kids, but it takes volunteers to make it that way.

Field Day: May 17th

HES Field Day is Friday, May 17th. This day is full of fun and excitement with an obstacle course, water games, & more!

Students should wear their colored field trip shirt or a shirt that is their grade's color.

Parents are welcome to attend the fun! Please fill out your 2023-2024 GCISD background check if you plan to attend.

Concession tickets are available for purchase online through the end of day on Wednesday, May 15th. Tickets are $1 each with a maximum of 7 tickets/student. Pre-purchased concession tickets will be delivered to the homeroom teachers on field day.

New School Pack supplier information

HES PTA is excited to announce that we have a new partner for School Supply Packs: 1st Day School Supplies This is the sister company of our spiritwear supplier, 1st Place Spiritwear. With 100% name brand products, better packaging, and exceptional customer service, we are certain that this will be a superior experience for our families.

The deadline to order school supply packs for Fall 2024 is June 30. Packs will be delivered to your student's classroom prior to Meet the Teacher in August.

The HES homeroom parents and classroom teachers are putting the finishing touches on the end of the year celebrations. Look out for specific details as the end of the year approaches.

Outdoor Learning Center Update

Phase 1 of the HES Outdoor Learning Center is complete! Stop by during Spring Fling, grab a free popsicle, and take a look at the new learning space available to HES Classes!

We are actively working on bids for the second and final phase, with hopes to have the entire project complete by the beginning of school in the Fall!
